Profile of Arambagh Vivekananda Academy

Arambagh, a remote sub-division in the district of Hooghly, West Bengal bears a rich heritage in education, social and cultural development since time immemorial and gave birth to a galaxy of great men like the epoch-marker sri Ramakrishna Dev, social reformer, Raja Rammahoan Ray ,keen educationist ,social activist and philanthropist Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and many other towering personalities who have brought honour and glory to our mother land. In her earnest effort to provide education ,the sub-division fosters as many as 165 secondary schools including more than fifty H.S schools, but all of them provide education through Bengali medium. In spite of initiation of a pre-primary or nursery school some thirty years ago and establishment of about a dozen of them in the sub-divisional town alone and more than two dozens of such schools throughout the sub-division they are designated as English medium schools only by name but not in real sense.

Our pitiable experience in close contact with these so called English medium schools reveals the fact that all are Bengali medium schools with special emphasis on English and on completion of course in these schools all children are forced to get admitted into Bengali medium Secondary Schools ,thus yielding nothing special.

Thus a vacuum remains in the eduacational scenerio of the sub-division.The geographical location of the town also discloses the fact that a few thousands people of the vast areas of the neighbouring district like Bakura, Bardhaman and Paschim Medinipur are solely dependent on this sub-divisional town in various spheres, especially education .Here arises the need for establishment of an exclusively English medium school in the true sense of the term.Needless to say ,the school is to be affliliated to the central Board of Secodary education , New Delhi.

With a view to fulfilling the long-cherished deram of many thousands of people to preapre their promising children, the cream of the coming generation,Arambagh VH organisation , a registered NGO under W.B. society Act,has ventured to set up an institution under the nomenclature,ARAMBAGH VIVEKANADA CENTRAL SCHOOL"w.e.f. the session 2008-09. The Primary motto of the school is to prepare the budding children for a better , a more prospective future for all classes of people irresspective of their caste ,creed and religion.
